A Dream Awakened!

Welcome to my blog!  If you are reading this, you must be somewhat interested, or curious at the least, to know what is going on in my life!  So, let me invite you to listen for a few minutes as I share my heart and a little of my story with you. . .

This part of my story begins when I was in high school.  That’s when I felt a strong call to foreign missions.  It’s hard to put into words how I knew. . .just that I had a strong, supernatural desire for missions dropped into my heart.  I knew this was a huge part of my purpose in life.  Little did I know that dream would be on hold for over 17 years!

I was ready to go to the mission field after graduation; however, my parents wanted me to attend college and get an education.  I desired to obey my parents’ wishes and put my dream on hold.

My decision to honor my parents turned out for the best.  I majored in Spanish and elementary education which taught me skills I’ll use the rest of my life, and in college is where I met the love of my life.  The first conversation Paul and I ever had centered around missions, and I knew he was a guy I could marry.

We got married 3 years later.  Shortly after that, we built a house and had our first baby, and we continued this pattern of building houses and having babies three more times!  While we’ve been busy growing our family, we’ve looked at each other from time to time and asked, “Do you think the Lord will ever stir that call to missions again?”

Lately, we’ve began to ask, “What does missions look like for our family anyway?”  While all the details have yet to be worked out, we are getting a clearer picture on where we’re headed, and it’s so exciting!

A few weeks back, my parents came to visit and invited me to go with them on their mission trip to Peru.  Long story short, we knew I was supposed to go.  Paul is very supportive of me going and willing to do his part by staying behind to manage the home-front and watch the kids, with his mom’s help and the help of some friends!

This trip will be huge step of faith for me. . .leaving my children home and traveling without my husband!  But, we both feel strongly that it is the Lord's will for me to go.  In addition to helping at the clinics, I will be serving in an orphanage called El Arco (www.elarcafam.org/) which is run by Bud and Laura Lenz.

If you would like updates as I prepare to leave and while I am in Peru, please add your name to the email list on the right.  And, watch for more posts to come in the near future. . .
